You, you, you

I saw you but not you.

Yes, you.

I was looking at you and then one second I was no longer seeing you.

But you.

Never in my most sober state have I thought of seeing you there.

Never in my wildest dream have I imagined that I would be looking at you through you.

But it happened. Because I saw you. You were there.

You stayed for a good couple of seconds, never wanting to go.

Until I had to shake you off my mind and remind myself that it wasn’t you who I was looking at.

But the real you.

And since then, whenever I look at you, I can’t help but look for you.

Twenty Sixte-, err, Seventeen

I cannot believe how fast 2016 went by. I literally thought it was only July and I was still preparing to take the exam of my life and now it’s the sixth day of 2017, which means I have lived for 25 years now (hashtag silver, as my guy teases me). And now I’m basically jobless and officially a house bum for six months already. Wow, so much for what they call the quarter-life crisis, eh?

As becoming a tradition, I shall present to you my best nine pictures on Instagram. Of all the social media I have ( I still don’t have a Snapchat account), Instagram is where I am most active at. Last year, I have managed to post 155 photos which consist of the most mundane things like what I had for dessert and some random wall graffiti about pizza to sharing the most awesome things I have done and been up to in 2016. Each photo I share gives a peek on what goes in my mind and what I feel on that particular day.

Aside from that, let me share to you guys the highlights of my 2016.

Weekend at Villasis, Pangasinan

From my previous post which you can read here, I spent 2D1N at my guy’s hometown. It may not matter for some girls but for me it was a huge milestone in our relationship. Also, it was a relief that my parents actually gave me the permission to spend a weekend somewhere with him.

Tagaytay- Agsalda-Dela Cruz Nuptial

The first wedding I attended for this year. It was held at a private and fancy place in Tagaytay. I forgot to take as much pictures but I must say it was a great place to host garden weddings and it has a huge hall for reception. The ceremony was simple and intimate with only a few guests invited. It was one of the best weddings I attended and witnessed.

Laiya, Batangas- The Anniversary Special

Our fifth year together. Up until now,  I am still in awe at how far we have managed to keep this relationship working and how this guy has been loving me unconditionally through all these years. And so for this special day, we decided to celebrate at La Luz Beach Resort in Laiya, Batangas. It was a 4-hour drive without the traffic since we went out on a holiday. It was like a never-ending road far south, but it was all worth it. The place was so remote it was like the farthest resort one could reach in Batangas. But bless my country for its lovely beaches, the place was all beauty and serene.

Puerto Galera- SGPO Team Building

It was a memorable weekend with my guy and his office mates on their annual team building in the office. It was my first time to ride a ferry boat and snorkel and to experience an infinity pool. Puerto Galera, however, like many people have said, are for the party-goers due mainly to its nightlife at its famous White Beach. But there are also other activities that can be done such as hiking and snorkeling and island hopping. I am still blessed to be able to step foot on this place no matter what others throw on this lovely island.

Tagaytay with the Reginos

Another trip to Tagaytay but this time with my guy’s family before his sister, Jewel, flew back to Guam.

Tanay, Rizal- Masungi Georeserve

Now comes the real adventure of 2016. Masungi Georeserve is one place near Metro Manila you can visit if you’re up to hiking and trekking. I know there are a lot more mountains to conquer but what makes this place special is their unique form of providing serenity while going up and down the mountains. It features ‘Sapot’ (lower right photo) which is like a stopover and is a great platform to ‘get a spectacular view of Laguna de Bay’. MG also houses, if I am not mistaken, the longest giant hammock in the Philippines (upper left photo). They also serve the most delicious sandwich and calamansi juice after the 4-hour trek.

Green Canyon Eco Art Resort, Pampanga

Spent a weekend at a secluded resort in Pampanga. Staying here even for just a night was a bit pricey but it was worth it. The resort was the ideal place for ‘staycation’ especially if you want to relax and unwind. The place was surrounded with mountains so cellphone signals can be problematic (but hey, it was one the quietest weekend I’ve had in a long time!). They have 2 huge pools (one was a wave pool) and they offer bicycles for free to use when roaming around the whole resort.

Fortune Island, Nasugbu, Batangas

My second out-of-town trip with my high school friends. We were almost, almost complete.

Cintai Corito’s Garden, Batangas

Celebrated my guy’s birthday in the South. He needed this quick getaway from the stress of his work ever since the new administration took place and so it was the perfect spot to relax.

Daranak Falls, Tanay, Rizal

Quick escape with my cousins to see this majestic scenery. Didn’t try the waters though because the color of the water suggests how deep it is and there were too many people swimming and so I opted to take as many pictures and just enjoy the view.

Sand Dunes, Paoay, Ilocos Norte

I have always wanted to go here and try sandboarding ever since I’ve heard that such place existed in our province. And now I feel like a true Ilocana after visiting this place and experiencing their adrenaline-inducing 4×4 ride and sandboarding.

Karingking Serrek Picnic Grove, Ilocos Norte

Last trek for this year. I really thought I would not make it out alive. Of course I was not yet ready to die but this trip was weird. But yeah, I survived and it was awesome. Crossed a river, trekked for hours (or so I thought?), bathed in the cold waters of the falls and finally, made our way back to the start via water tubing. Great way to end 2016, indeed.

Cruz-Gaon Nuptial

After 16 years they have FINALLY tied the knot! Witnessed the wedding of my guy’s cousin with her long-time-almost-lifetime partner. It was a civil wedding with only a few guests invited but it became like a reunion with my co-workers at the clinic where I used to work at.

A lot has happened this year that I will never forget. Of course there were the places I was able to visit and new experiences I tried (and survived). But most importantly, this year had me focused more on my career, on deciding what and where I want to be in life and to start establishing myself as a professional in the long run. Sure I still have things to do to get to where I want to in life, but hey, at least I’ve had that first step done of leaving my comfort zone of many years and start exploring the many opportunities of my career. I am always thankful for He has answered all my prayers and has always guided me as I continue my journey.

Now I am off to pursue my dreams this 2017. 🙂

Because I Love You

I will be the good girlfriend you always remind me to be. Whenever you are away for days, sometimes for weeks, you always tell me to be a good girl and in no circumstance I will break that promise to you.

I will try my hardest to understand your nature of work which includes going out of town twice or thrice a month and do foreign trips every now and then. I appreciate all your efforts of keeping the connection even if we were miles apart and most especially for finding time to be with me even if it means hanging out in the nearest open coffee shop at midnight. Our ideal ‘date’ has changed dramatically from daylight museum trips or discovering new cafes to dine in to late-night hang outs and getting disappointed that most of our food cravings are not satisfied because the stores usually are closed already by the time we get out of the house. Still, none of these matter as long as we have each other’s company.

I will aim to become competent in my chosen path. I know my capabilities and weaknesses. I know I have a lot of catching up to do but I will not let that hinder me to achieve our dreams. Your words of comfort and encouragement are the reasons why I was able to surpass my fears and continue to move forward with what I am aiming for in life.

I will be your source of strength, like you said. I will be your happy pill whenever you are feeling blue. My voice will be the one to comfort you in your most stressful days. My hug will be your fortress when everything around you seems to crumble and fall. I may not be your knight in shining armor, but I promise you I will be by your side in times of your worst battle.

I will never leave you. What else there is to say? We are meant for each other. You are my answered prayer and my happily ever after.

Villasis, Pangasinan

Hi. It’s been a while. I’ve been itching to update this site since this year started but unfortunately I wasn’t able to do so, though I was still able to write some stuff for the past months. Anyway, the reason I want to write here regularly is because I have this project for 2016. I don’t have a name for it (yet), but the idea came when I got a GoPro on my birthday. So why not make use of it by going out of town once a month and capture photos as many as the camera can hold. So…

Flashback January 2016

It was a simple out-of-town getaway to my guy’s hometown, Villasis, Pangasinan. It was a four-hour drive from the metro and this trip was a bit special not just because I get to test shot my camera but because this is like the first time I spent a weekend with my guy’s family, although this was not the first time that I’ve been here. The timing was perfect because they were celebrating Talong (eggplant) Festival and there was a parade the morning we arrived and drum and lyre presentations at the town plaza. At night, we went to the funfair and tried Horror Train and this Jollibee ride I forgot what it was called. It was amazing. It’s like I was transported back to my childhood days in my province.

So this is for my January 2016. My photos are ready for my next adventures. I really really hope to get this site starting again.

It was you. No doubt about it.

I almost forgot about you. Almost.

But there you were, looking exactly like how I accidentally saw you weeks ago. Looking as snob as ever.

I was in my usual place, you weren’t. You were so out of place, wearing your usual garb. I felt the surprise when I saw you. You acted as if everything’s normal. As if you have ever gone to that place in reality.

Did you see me? In my dreams, we were busy doing something. You were busy. My eyes were all on you.

And then what? Change of scene. We were both there. I still could not believe my brains, betraying me even in my deepest slumber. I was there. And you were definitely still there.

I forgot what happened next. Where were we? I was no longer paying attention to what we were supposed to do. We were in a group, I think. I was surrounded by faces I wasn’t familiar with. None held any familiarity at all. Except you.

And then you were gone. And just like that, I woke up feeling lost and betrayed.

That’s the sad thing about waking up from a dream. It leaves as fast as it comes, unknowingly and without warning.

Of stress and distress.

It all boils down to these things I may have found a way in stressing to you, on the previous conversation we had or on a similar situation we have had before, but you have failed to grasp entirely:

I never meant for any of these to happen. I am merely reacting, as I have done loads of time before, based on the situation you present in front of me. Whatever things you do or decisions you make, I’ll always have something to react, may it be in a positive or in a negative way. Or however immature they are to you.

There is hardly any competition. Okay, there may have sometimes but this time around it’s only fair to ask something in exchange for a lost time. You know this. I’ve said this before. I’ve said this a lot of time, more than I should have, and yet this is still included here.

At least keep me informed. I don’t expect your messages to pop every fifteen minutes. I’m not to ruin your trip or anything by snatching your precious time glued to your phone. Just make me feel remembered while you’re away. That’s all I’m asking.

Make up for the time lost. Don’t wait for the weekend before we settle things out. I know you’re constantly busy and an hour away and I know I am being selfish to say this but I need to see you right away. Okay? And don’t rely on your phone when trying to patch things up. It will only make the situation worse.

You know these. I know you know. I just can’t understand why these still resurface after all these years. It’s as if you didn’t know me at all.

The Deathly Hallows

There were once three brothers who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight. In time, the brothers reached a river too deep to wade through and too dangerous to swim across. However, these brothers were learned in the magical arts, and so they simply waved their wands and made a bridge appear across the treacherous water. They were halfway across it when they found their path blocked by a hooded figure.

And Death spoke to them. He was angry that he had been cheated out of three new victims, for travelers usually drowned in the river. But Death was cunning. He pretended to congratulate the three brothers upon their magic, and said that each had earned a prize for having been clever enough to evade him.

So the oldest brother, who was a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence: a wand that must always win duels for its owner, a wand worthy of a wizard who had conquered Death! So Death crossed to an elder tree on the banks of the river, fashioned a wand from a branch that hung there, and gave it to the eldest brother.

Then the second brotherm who was an arrogant man, decided that he wanted to humiliate Death still further, and asked for the power to recall others from Death. So Death picked up a stone from the riverbank and gave it to the second brother, and told him that the stone would have the power to bring back the dead.

And then Death asked the third and youngest brother what he would like.  The youngest brother was the humblest and also the wisest of the brothers, and he did not trust Death. So he asked for something that would enable him to go forth from that place without being followed by Death. And Death, most unwillingly, handed over his own Cloak of Invisibility.

Then Death stood aside and allowed the three brothers to continue on their way, and they did so, talking with wonder of the adventure they had had, and admiring Death’s gifts.

In due course the brothers separated, each for his own destination.

The first brother traveled on for a week or more, and reaching a distant village, sought out a fellow wizard with whom he had a quarrel. Naturally, with the Elder Wand as his weapon, he could not fail to win the duel that followed. Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor, the oldest brother proceeded to an inn, where he boasred loudly of the powerful wand he had snatched from Death himself, and of how it made him invincible.

That very night, another wizard crept upon the oldest brother as he lay, wine-sodden, upon his bed. The thief took the wand and, for good measure, slit the oldest brother’s throat.

And so Death took the first brother for his own.

Meanwhile, the second brother journeyed to his own home, where he lived alone. Here he took out the stone that had the power to recall the dead, and turned it thrice in his hand. To his amazement and his delight, the figure of the girl he had once hoped to marry, before her untimely death, appeared at once before him.

Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Finally the second brother, driven mad with hopeless longing, killed himself so as truly to join her.

And so Death took the second brother for his own.

But though Death searched for the third brother for many years, he was never able to find him. It was only when he had attained a great age that the youngest brother finally took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and equals, they departed this life.
